Dr. Jessica Yenssen
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Jessica Yenssen’s roots trace back to her family dairy farm in Bruce County, where she developed a deep appreciation for animal care while helping with the family livestock. Her passion for veterinary medicine began early, during a high school co-op placement at a rural mixed-animal practice. Inspired by that experience, she pursued her studies at the Ontario Veterinary College (Guelph), graduating in 2008, and soon began practicing in rural Ontario.
In 2010, Dr. Yenssen transitioned from mixed-animal practice to focus exclusively on small animals; she has been serving Waterloo Region ever since. Her career has also included time at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Waterloo Region, a 24/7 facility dedicated to providing emergency care for companion animals.
For the past twelve years, Dr. Yenssen has made her home in Wilmot Township, where she is proud to provide veterinary care within her own community. She values every aspect of her profession, especially witnessing the special bond between pets and their families. Her professional interests include ophthalmology, musculoskeletal diseases, internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Yenssen enjoys a full and vibrant life with her husband, three daughters, and her beloved senior dog, Peggy Sue (her first girl). When not at work, she can often be found cheering on her daughters at the pool, dance studio, or basketball court. She also loves baking, gardening, and camping, which allow her to recharge and connect with nature.
